Sayee Multi Speciality Hospital was not built for the city. It was built for the people who have always lived just outside it.
For a long time, families in Padappai, Tambaram, Vandalur, Chromepet, and Urapakkam had the same problem, when something serious happened, the nearest good hospital was forty minutes away, on a bad day maybe more. A road accident at midnight. A difficult delivery. A child running a fever that won’t break. In moments like those, distance matters more than people realise.
We know this because our founders saw it firsthand, for years, before they did something about it.
Today, Sayee is a NABH accredited multi speciality hospital with two full-service branches Padappai and Tambaram, both open every single hour of every single day. We have grown from a small neighbourhood clinic into a hospital that handles everything from emergency trauma care to joint replacement surgeries, from normal deliveries to complex kidney procedures. But honestly, the thing we are most proud of is simpler than any of that: the community trusts us. And we have worked hard, for over three decades, to deserve that trust.
Our Story
It started with one doctor and one question.
Dr. M. Pandian began his career as a general practitioner in Chromepet back in 1985. After completing his Diploma in Physical Medicine in 1987, he kept noticing the same thing, patients coming to him after long, exhausting journeys from Padappai and the surrounding areas, often arriving late because getting to a decent facility took so much out of them. Some arrived too late.
That stayed with him.
With his wife, Dr. T. N. Sai Meenakshi herself a dedicated physician who went on to become a trusted name in women's health and gynaecology in this region, And set up a small clinic called Vel Nursing Home. No grand ambitions at first. Just a genuine desire to put good medical care closer to the people who needed it.
Over the years, as patients kept coming, as families started referring other families, as the trust grew, the clinic grew with it. Vel Nursing Home became Sayee Hospitals. Sayee Hospitals became Sayee Multi Speciality Hospital. Two branches, a full ICU, a NICU, an emergency department, multiple surgical units, and a team of specialists that would be hard to find on this side of Chennai.
Their son, Dr. Prashanth Pandian, an Orthopaedic Surgeon who trained at some of the best institutions in the country, now leads the hospital alongside his parents. Same values. Better infrastructure.
That, in short, is who we are. A family that started small, stayed rooted, and kept building not for recognition, but because the work mattered.

A Note From Us
Running a hospital is not a simple job, and we will not pretend otherwise. There are difficult days. There are cases where we cannot do enough, and that stays with us. But there are also the days that remind us exactly why this work matters, a new mother holding her baby for the first time, a patient walking out after a joint replacement they put off for years, a family that came in terrified at 2am and left with their person alive.
We are not the biggest hospital in Chennai. We probably never will be. But for the people of Padappai, Tambaram, Vandalur, Chromepet, Urapakkam, and the communities around us we want to be the most dependable one. The one you don’t have to think twice about calling.
